About Me

My photo
I am a bit of a hippy at heart, although I am a bit to young to have been a flower child (I was a New Romantic as a teenager). I love the individuality and colourfulness of the arty, hippy style and like to express that love of colour in my jewellery and I seem to be increasingly drawn to nature as inspiration for my beadwork.

Yellow Tulip Necklace

I'm continuing to develop my crystal tulip design and really wanted to see what it looked like in a traditional tulip colour. I found these lovely yellow firepolished beads and the pearl in my stash and knew they would be perfect. It took me a while to decide what shade of green to use on the strap, in the end I decided to use silver lined green at the core to add depth and a transparent ab finish which picks up from the yellow in the tulip. I originally had a more elaborate necklace planned but eventually realised that a simple one would be best to showcase the flower. I even took a halfway decent photo!

Spring Zing!

I love the lime green and gold colour combination of this bracelet. In fact I am having a bit of a lime moment, it's trying to sneak into lot's of pieces, but I am reigning it in! This bracelet has a core of gold beads with lime spiralling around. The little drop beads create a lovely texture!

A New Flower Flare Ring

Here is my latest flower flare ring. It's in dark greys and purples and cups upward away from the ring band. These are so much fun to make and wear! This one will be with me at Vintage Pretty 3.

April Is Forever - What's in a name?

Crystal Tulip Ring

Cornflower Flower Flare Ring

I have been doing a lot of research over the past week about seller profiles etc and I thought I would share a little about my inspirations and why I chose April Is Forever for my business name.

I am a bit of a hippy at heart, although I am a bit to young to have been a flower child (I was a New Romantic as a teenager). I love the individuality and colourfulness of the arty, hippy style and like to express that love of colour in my jewellery and I seem to be increasingly drawn to nature as inspiration for my beadwork, my crystal tulip and flower flare rings are good examples of this.

Spring is my favourite season, I look forward to the fresh new colours during the long winter months and I wanted to reflect that in my name and my son was born in April, so that part was easy! I want my jewellery to evoke that feeling of happiness that I get when I see beautiful spring flowers, memories of April stay with me all year and I make my pieces with the intention that they will stay fresh and pretty enough to passed down to future generations. So I had the words April and Forever floating about in my mind for a while, I played with lots of different fancy combinations but realised that simple is often best and chose April Is Forever. It definitely reflects the hippy in me!
