About Me

My photo
I am a bit of a hippy at heart, although I am a bit to young to have been a flower child (I was a New Romantic as a teenager). I love the individuality and colourfulness of the arty, hippy style and like to express that love of colour in my jewellery and I seem to be increasingly drawn to nature as inspiration for my beadwork.

Bead, Book and Bounce - Beaded Fantasies by Sabine Lippert

Those of you who also read the Operation Tackle That Bead Stash blog will be familiar with the Bead Book and Bounce that the lovely Clair from Obstinate Pursuit organises for us. This months reveal/review topic is Sabine Lipperts Beaded Fantasy book.

With a book shelf already groaning with beading books, I had resisted buying this one, but as I wanted to join in the BB&B, asked for it for Mothers Day. I am so glad I did! I love the selection of patterns and was pleased to see that as many of them use easily sourced "basics" like fire polished, 11's and pearls, I already had the stash to make several of the projects without ordering new beads.

It was hard to choose what to make first, but I settled on the Granada brooch, except I made a pendant instead. As others on the BB&B have mentioned, I did find a couple of the steps descriptions quite long and a bit difficult to follow at first, but after a couple of rereads, got them sorted and by the next day had a beautiful pendant.

I would recommend this book to other beaders, but probably not to very beginners, although I don't think you need too much experience to complete many of the patterns.

I love the book and hope Sabine brings out many more!

It's a gorgeous pendant. I would love to make it one day when I'm more experienced in seed bead weaving. Thank you for sharing.

Hello lovely. Thanks so much for joining in Bead, Book & Bounce this time around. I hope you'll be able to join in a few more (so that you can put those poor books to some use!)

I love the colourway that you chose for your Granada. It's a beauty!

Pretty, pretty pendant Sarah. Thanks for letting us know that careful reading is required. I'll go slow when I eventually get around to creating something from this yummy book.
